Financial Help For Single Moms In Oklahoma
Grants For Single Mothers in Oklahoma
Do you need some assistance and know you have no family or friends that can help right
now? Do you want to do what you can for you and your kids but you feel embarrassed
to ask for help? We all need assistance at times. Below are some ideas and programs that
might be able to help you.
Cash – If you need cash fast and you have never used an advance pay type service, you
might be able to get what you need this way until you can figure something else out.
Some have been able to use a car title for collateral purposes temporarily. You might be
able to take out a lien against your property if you have to and your credit is good.
Health – Oklahoma Medicaid is a Federal and State entitlement program for people who
reside in Oklahoma, are US citizens or qualified aliens and meet financial income and
resource standards in certain categories. Your local Department of Human Services can
answer all the questions you may have to see if you qualify. Your location in the state,
whether it is Oklahoma City, Tulsa or Lawton does not matter because this is a state
program. If you live in small towns like Medford, Bailey, Bray or Jefferson check for
the nearest Department of Health and Human Services to help you.
School Meals – You may not realize it, but the National School Lunch Program is
available to all students enrolled in schools and institutions whose families qualify
under the income guidelines that are set. You children may be eligible for reduced
cost or no cost breakfast and lunch at school. http://sde.state.ok.us/Services/Directory/

Other Health – Oklahoma has a State Childrens Health Insurance Program (SCHIP),
that provides coverage for uninsured infants, children and teenagers that meet eligibility
requirements. For instance, as long as you meet the resident requirements, if you have a
family of three, your annual household income before taxes would need to be less than
$33,874.
Temporary Assistance – Oklahoma has what is called the Oklahoma Temporary
Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program that is for children deprived of support
because of their parents death, incapacity, absence or unemployment. Cash assistance
to the family is on a time limited basis. You will need to meet all the criteria for the
program. Your local Dept. of Human Services can help.
